Yarn stuff

I've only found one yarn shop that's not considerably out of my way. They sell super cute yarns like this one: I love unevenly spun, fun textures. This is Tempest...it's not bad, but it's not as chunky as I'd like. I watched a lady spin yard on a drop spindle and thought it looked easy enough to try. I made a drop spindle and bought some wool robing. It's itchy, and I'll likely never use the yarn I spun from it, but it was cheap. I spun the wool, and some cotton batting, and some nylon. I grabbed some light purple dye and got to work. All of these stayed in the dye for about an hour. I had every intention of keeping it in for 30 minutes but I got distracted . The cotton started out white and didn't hold much color. The wool started out an off-white, almost light tan color. It's a weird shade of purple, and it's itchy - I still have no idea what I might use it for. The nylon is my favorite. It's a dark rich purple color and it'...

They make me smile

The benefit of being a School Psych is that you don't have to work in the summer - that would be the life of my dear sister. I'm reaping the rewards of her being off this week - she has agreed to watch the girls most of the week so they can go to VBS. Yesterday was day 1. Everyone survived. I know Monica's tough and everything, but she had both of the girls in addition to Austin. All three are saints on their own - but together... :D Despite embarrassing me horribly and making me feel like a horrid mother, it seems to have gone well. I won't get into details here to avoid the humiliation of both of my girls, but I do want to apologize to my sister so having to witness it. Although I'm willing to bet once she got over the shock she laughed hysterically. Today M had her orientation in StL for next school year so the girls went to daycare. M called to tell me that she had witnessed, first hand, the obnoxiousness that is my girls. I've been complaining to he...

Fly Away Home

Last week Jennifer Weiner requested that people send her a picture of a copy of Best Friends Forever someplace fabulous. I haven’t taken my copy anywhere fabulous. And, to be completely honest, it’s my sister’s copy – it had taken up residency at my house after she finished reading it a while ago. I figured if I couldn’t show evidence of taking the book someplace terrific, I could at least try to make her laugh. I propped up the book and snapped a quick shot with my phone. I submitted this: Evidently my sister has the same immature sense of humor because the toilet shot was the first idea that came to her mind as well. Since I am just so wonderfully amusing, she sent me a signed copy of her book. It arrived today! Here it is some place a bit more appropriate.    And the note. What a lucky girl I am.

She's got gall

For now anyway. Friday I went to see Sarah at Dr. Internal' office. I love her - she’s terrific. She ordered an ultrasound of my gall bladder. Monday I went to the office for said ultrasound. The tech was hilarious. He made me laugh the whole time, which made the process almost fun in a way. He showed me my liver, a kidney, diaphragm, pancreas, and gallbladder. He even let me take a quick look at my heart. That was my favorite part. Contrary to what some people think, I actually DO have a heart, and there’s proof now. The cool part was the veins/arteries. I knew they are attached to the heart, but it didn ’t occur to me that they’d look like kite stings dangling from the end. Fun times. Everything looked good to the untrained eye and the tech said Sarah will probably want to do more tests. She does. As expected, she setup a HIDA scan for me tomorrow morning. I thought it would be something as simple as drinking something and them scanning my stomach with a hand held device. It...

Another tee ball game

The field was flooded and wasn’t moved this time, so the kids played in the grass. I didn’t get any good shots of Paige, but snapped a few quick shots before giving up and tucking the camera away. Cadence was being shy… We brought Sadie along. She was a spaz the entire time. Here she’s attacking Jason in search of kisses.

Fathers Day

I’m a little behind on editing the shots I took on Father’s Day. I didn’t get many people shots and don’t have much to share. Paige found a toad, and he was content to sit in her hands for quite a while. Cady just wanted to look at him

At the StL 2Peas G2G a few weeks ago, DeAnna snapped a few shots of the girls for me. I edited them, but the shots were all her. Thanks DeAnna!
